I heard Dave Inocencio is no longer alive
Thinking to myself, “What the hell did I miss?”
Moving from one prison building to another
I found an old letter from Dave
Thinking to myself I’ll write to my brother
Not knowing he was in his grave
Deeply saddened
I read my newly published poems in The Beat
Happy for being published but bittersweet
Another new issue, delivered to me
I saw behind Dave’s name, RIP
Which made me sad

To speak out from prison
I wanted so bad to work with you
When I get out of prison
Now, my finish line is near
