They Knew What They Were Talking About

by KS, Sacramento

I should’ve listened to my mom and dad for all the game they gave me when I was younger. I should’ve soaked up the advice they gave me, so I didn’t have to end up here. They been to juvenile hall plenty of times as kids, in and out the system all the time. If I wasn’t stubborn, always thinking I know everything, I wouldn’t be where I am today.

If I took the advice I needed from them as a kid… they gave me really good advice, to never lead me in the wrong way or told me wrong. I wish I listened to my dad. He told me jail was the last place I wanted to be at, so I thought I was Superman, thinking I know everything. But I definitely thought wrong. Success to me, I think, is accomplishing something that you’ve wanted all your life and you got it done. The most recent success I had was dropping my first song.

It felt good to give the world my own piece of art. Kinda gave me a point of view on how far I wanna take this music stuff. It took me a while to get into the studio and succeed in this song. I’m willing to sacrifice my time to spend it on my music and make something good that’s really worth listening to.
