Putting My Plan’s Into Action

by Robert Guerra, Salinas Valley State Prison, Soledad, CA

Hello Beat Within readers! I hope this finds you all well and in good health! I was just sitting here thinking to myself on all the positive things I want to do in life! One thing I would like to do is write a book on self-help so I can help others do better in life.

Yeah, we all have done some type of wrong in life, but have you ever thought about how you’re going to pay society back for the wrong you have done or maybe paying it forward? I guess that’s where I start putting my plans into action. It’s not hard to reach out and ask for help.

People do care! And if you ask, most of the time they will help! I want to be able to make an impact on someone’s life in a positive way. The feeling you get when you help someone in need is so awesome. When I talk about helping others in life each and every one of us is broken in some way. We must learn how to heal, no matter what’s happened in our life.

There are so many of you boys and girls sitting in Juvie broken in some form or another. It’s been eating at you with so much pain and hurt deep down inside. There is a lot of evil in the world. But you don’t have to be a part of it. Each and every one of you can make a better life for yourself. All you have to do is reach out and talk with someone that you trust.

Tell them what’s going on in your life. Yeah, healing takes time. But you must not give up on yourself. I have faith in all of you. Believe in yourself and focus on the positive outcome of a new life.

I had to stop and ask myself one question, “What is it that the world needs?”

I would have to say the world needs healing! Some of us need hope and faith, as well as motivation to help ourselves and help others. Everyone is in need of a friend or even B.F.F.

Once you open up to a friend or family member, it feels so good to get it off your chest. I know many of you boys and girls are hurt in there ‘cause you’re away from your families and friends. Be strong! For those of you down and out, feeling sad and depressed, we hear you! We care about you! We love all of you very much. Bottom line is you’re not alone.

One thought that came to my mind. Next time any of you get the chance write about someone you think is in need of a positive message who you think is all alone. Or you can write about yourself. Support the “You are not alone” movement!

People matter in life so stop and tell someone you know that they matter. For the most part, much peace, lov,e and respect to all of you. Till pen and paper meet again.
