One time when I was thirteen or fourteen, my mom caught me smoking in the house with my sister. She was mad. She was yelling for about an hour about how I want to be so grown and how I don’t listen to a thing she says. Then she started talking about how I don’t go to school and I’m failing.
The whole situation turned into me not going to school and how I think I’m grown. She forgot that she caught me smoking and was mad that I “wanted to be grown.” Another time I caught a break was when my mom told me I couldn’t have anybody come over because she had work and I had got suspended for three days.
She was working a night shift, so she left for work at like 8:00 pm. As soon as she left, I had my girlfriend at the time come over. My mom was gone for about thirty minutes by the time she got to my house. An hour goes by, and I hear the garage door opening. We both look at each other and then I go look out the window and I see my mom pulling into the driveway.
I tell my girlfriend to stay in the room while I go downstairs to see why she came back. When she comes in the house, I ask her what happened and why she came back from work so early. She said that her boss told her she didn’t have to come in to work anymore. So, I was acting as normal as possible, and I went back to my room.
I thought I locked the door, but I don’t think I did. I laid back down and resumed the movie. Everything was good for a good two hours. Then out of nowhere my mom walks in. I’m so shocked, I just sit there and look at her. My girlfriend is asleep next to me while I was on the game. My mom asks me who is that!
I tell her my girlfriends name and she was like you could’ve told me she was here instead of trying to be sneaky. I’m just sitting looking stuck at the fact that I get caught. That is the last time I caught a break from my mom.
The most recent was when I caught a break from my P.O. I failed about four drug tests in a row, but I was going to all my programs, meetings, and doing community service. She told me since I’m doing what I’m supposed to do besides smoking, I won’t get violated. But I need to submit at least one clean test before court.
