Determined To Do Better

by DJ, Sacramento

I am determined to change my old habits, to make a change. I do not know anyone who likes to be in jail, on probation or in the system their whole life. I do not want to be incarcerated my whole life and I do not want my little brothers to follow the same path. It is not worth it, and it is not worth your life.

I am determined to do anything to better myself. I can better myself by expanding my learning and by making better choices. For me to succeed, it will take for me to push myself to do the rights things, hang around the right group of friends and to do what I know is right.

I am also determined to make sure my little brothers have a good role model. I do not want them to think it is okay to do what they know is not okay. I would feel that I failed as a big brother and as a son. I say I am determined to do these things. These are decisions I made, and I am looking forward to doing them because I want to make a change.

I am also determined to make my mom proud. She deserves it. I know she is hurting, and I am her oldest so me getting in trouble and getting incarcerated I know is putting her through a lot. It makes me want to take back some of the things I did but I cannot, so I have to just make better choices from now on and soon it will pay off.

I guarantee to make these things happen by all means and I will not change my mind because I know it is what is right for me. It takes a smart person to see the wrong and change their own actions. Being in jail or dead is not smart.

Being uneducated is not smart, or being unemployed. It is stupid. Being determined is like having a goal you will not change and knowing if you meet your goals, they will help you. There is nothing with wanting help to get back on the right track and make things right. But I guess some people just do not see that.
