My Favorite Things To Do

by Junior, San Mateo

I enjoy doing many things during my lifetime. Especially during the winter, spring and the summer. Something I like to do is playing video games. For example, my PlayStation 4 that I have at my house. I enjoy playing many games on it and I also love playing online with local friends and many other people I meet online. The main video games that I play are Fortnite, Call Of Duty, Black Ops Three, Warzone etc., Grand Theft Auto and sometimes Minecraft. There are many other video games that I would play, but I would play them every once in a while.

Recently, the PlayStation 5 has been released and they go for about $500. I would upgrade to it, but I would rather buy a PC instead. The reason why I would pick a PC over a PlayStation is because, in my opinion they are much more reliable and last a long time. I also would pick the PC over it because the graphics on a PC are way better than a consul. Soon, I hope to save money by getting a job and be able to buy myself a PC and a brand-new monitor.

Something else that I enjoy is hanging out with friends. I hang out with friends all the time. Usually, every single day there is no school. To be honest, all we would do every time we hang out is chill.

Another thing I enjoy is sports. The best sport I am good at is soccer. I started playing since I was a youngin, like three or four. As I got older, my dad was able to get me into a soccer club when I was like nine or ten years old. It was very fun, and I loved it for real. I was a striker; a player who plays as a forward and scores goals. I remember scoring so many goals. I stopped playing for the club because I had got into a fight during the game. There was a defender on the opposite team that was butt-hurt about losing, so he would kick my leg on purpose. I told him if he did one more time, I was going to show him something. Boom! He did it again, so I just punched him and broke his tooth off. I got a red card, and I just left the field and told my mom; let’s go home. I was suspended for the rest of the season. After that, I had lost my lungs, so I quit the team. Two years later, I joined back to see how it would go. It went good, but it just wasn’t the same. I had quit the team after the season. I kind of want to join again and see how it goes.

Another thing I enjoy doing is shopping. I love shopping at the mall, especially because I live not far from one. Every time I go to the mall, I always end up buying something that interests me like hoodies,

pants hats or shoes. I also get mad after I buy things because I hate spending money. I like to save my money because I don’t have a job at the moment. I recently turned sixteen and I plan on getting a job after I get released from the YSC. In order for me to be able to work at a job, I’m going to need a work permit. To get a work permit, my school grades need to be good and I plan on trying my best to keep them up. Once I get a job, I plan on buying many things for myself. For example, designer clothing like Alexander McQueen shoes, Balmain jeans etc. I also plan on buying my parents things because they have been supporting me my whole life and always have been there for me. I really want to get my mom a Gucci or Louis Vuitton bag. I know she would be very happy about it. I also plan on getting my dad some shoes when I get the chance to.

Something else that I enjoy is having freedom. I am currently in the YSC right now, Youth Services Center in San Mateo. I’ve been in here for twenty days now. That’s the most time I’ve done so far out of the other six times I came in. Before twenty days, it was seventeen days. The other times were just violations for five-day servings that I got released for because I didn’t have court.

Before I came in here, I was out for one year and four months. Summer came around, I was bored and got myself into trouble. It was fun while it lasted. My probation officer told me my wait time for my case right now is 120 days, which isn’t anything compared to the other kids in here. She’s trying to get me released on an ankle monitor, so I can be able to attend school. I am very excited to go because the pandemic has been very tough lately and we are finally going to be able to go back in the actual school campus.

I have so many things on my mind that I plan on doing until I get released. I just want to wait until I hear the staff in the YSC call my name, “Junior, you’re getting released”. I’m going to do my best on not coming back, hopefully my last time here.
