What My Daughter and I Deserve

-DB, Albuquerque

This year has started off good, then changed very quickly. The person I came into the new year with me is no longer in my life. Sadly, life goes on. Maybe things just weren’t meant to be. I am walking to new beginnings though!

This boy that I am talking to now is very different. Everyone I have told about him has approved. That’s a big difference! We have been getting to know each other a lot! We talked on the phone, and we came to a lot of agreements to where we understand that if we don’t work out, we will still be good friends.

I don’t like temporary bonds, so I think it’s great! I also have recently talked to a friend of mine that I was talking to last year but stopped due to me talking to someone else. We will find each other again, as we both say. He recently got twenty years of prison time, but I know life will bring us back together one day. We will be the closest! He’s my best friend!

It’s sad to see him go, but I know he will be away, and we will meet again one day. My life lesson for this year is to listen more and realize my worth. I need to start realizing how much people love me and would love to treat me the way I want to be treated. It’s just what my daughter and I deserve!
